Each of us are born with an intellect that enables us to choose a path for life – a smooth, peaceful path or a stressful, rocky one. Choice remains with you, why not enjoy a life of your dreams ?
Allow me to walk you through my personal spiritual journey. I was born in 1946, Lahore, Then Punjab, India. In 1947 our family was displaced as refugees to India following India – Pakistan partition, the family faced severe hardships. At the age of 5 days my life’s astrological chart was drafted by the family pandit (priest), it showed my age to be 60 years.
My first spiritual encounter happened at the age of 5 years. A heat stroke made me unconscious and I fell to the ground. Mom was in a state of extreme panic since we were refugees and lacked medical access. Dad was a religious person, he turned to God to save his son’s life. Dad placed a bowl of water under the family holy book and began to pray, Mom started putting drops of the holy water into my mouth. About 30 minutes I started to move my fingers. The prayer lasted for an hour, towards the end I had opened my eyes- God had spared my life!
My second encounter happened at the age of 32 I suffered a heart attack that damaged 30% of my heart muscles. After we finished the gym on a Sunday morning, as I was waiting for my wife I felt shortness of breath and substantial sweating and at that moment I felt I was having a heart attack. Instead of pressing the panic button I sat down, closed my eyes and placed my body into relaxation mode and kept saying to myself “I am OK!” Fortunately, I endured the attack. Mind won over matter! A few moments later my wife came out and questioned, “how come you are so sweaty?” In that span of time I had recovered so I said, “I forgot the towel at home”. I chose not to disclose the heart attack.
Next morning I visited a clinic, asked my doctor for a medical checkup without disclosing the heart problem. As expected my BP was quite high. Subsequent blood test revealed alarming symptom levels. The doctor prescribed number of pills and stated I will recover within 30 days. While leaving the clinic, I decided to tear up the prescription and told myself at this early age I am not going to become dependent on pills, I shall fix myself with a controlled diet and regular exercise! I let my will power carry my decisions. In the due process if I am dead, that’s the way life is meant to be!
Carrying the will power I decided to wake up at 5 a.m the next morning. Drank 3 glasses of warm water, freshened up, and went for a walk. I would walk for 5 minutes, run for 2-3 minutes with huffing and puffing. I adopted a controlled diet short of red meat, minimized white salt and sugar. After 90 days I returned to the clinic for a follow up. The doctor responded “See my pills did the job, your BP is normal” then I told him I haven’t taken a single pill and I refuse to be pill dependent at age of 32. With a shocked look the doctor gave me a big hug and said “hats off to you!”
Instead of letting that disaster affect me I healed and fixed myself through my will power. I built up my stamina to run 5-6 kilometers a day and complete half a marathon ( 21 km ) every Saturday morning.
My third spiritual encounter happened at the age of 44 in 1990, while visiting New York I met Edita Sherman at the Carnegie Hall to purchase an Original Oil Painting of Marilyn Monroe. Following the purchase transaction Edita offered to snap four of my photographs at her studio. The following day Edita called my office and left a message that I must return her call urgently. As I returned her call Edita exclaimed that she had observed an image of Pope John Paul II superimposed over three of my four photographs and she explained that it was not a trick by her and she has no image of the Pope in her studio. By coincidence our older son Nidhi had received his M.B.B.S degree with an entitlement of a Best Graduate Of The Year Award from Jagiellonian University, Kraków, Poland (2003) same university from where the Pope had Graduated years earlier (1953-1954 ), Nidhi also married a girl from Kraków. While attending Nidhi’s graduation our Hotel room gave me un-obstructive view of the House where The Pope grew up as a little boy again another coincidence.
In 1968 while at M.I.T I had my first Student Mixer Dance with a girl from Kraków named Gogi Smetkoska. Unfortunately our relationship only lasted for 3 months. Gogi’s father expired and she had to return to Poland.
All these mysterious coincidences with The Pope point to a past life relation between us.
